Barbara Broekman has designed a special range of wallpaper for each of the 39 rooms of Hotel JL no. 76 in Amsterdam. This wallpaper is based on originally embroidered artworks of Barbara Broekman that have been extremely enlarged and translated to wallpaper.
The extreme enlargement of the embroidery gives an insight to the original process of creation. The technique of embroidery itself has become its own subject. Stitches become cables and the weavings threads create an abstract, merely three-dimensional composition.
The series of wallpapers exist of various designs chosen for their abstract quality and clear reference to the original art pieces.
