Woman 1-10, 2005-2007

In this series Broekman literally interweaves images of individual women with images of groups of men. Most women in these photographs are mannequins; beautiful and seductive. Broekman choose them for the self-conscious way they present their vulnerable power. Female power is strongly interconnected with her transient beauty of youth: with time she will have to part from it. 

The men find themselves in typical situations of male power: in the world of sports, military force, stock exchange and religion. The power of man comes forth from his abilities to manifest in society. It is independent and timeless. He doesn’t need beauty: it is his power itself that seduces.
