Dutch Landscapes, 2005-2008
Strictly spoken, in the typical Dutch landscape there is no distinction between nature and culture. From the early days the Dutch were well known for building, structuring and designing their country. They developed their engineering skills driven by economical and practical motivations, cultivating a visual language of clarity and functional beauty.
Broekman built her own landscapes with images of natural and urban elements. Each ‘Dutch Landscape’ is a combination of two photographs, printed on canvas, literally interwoven with each other according to a complex textile pattern.
